Prague is the capital city of the Czech Republic, which is situated in Central Europe, bordering on Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Poland. There are a number of non-stop border crossings available with a very good connection by car, bus, train or plane. A valid passport, which does not expire at least for 90 days over the duration of stay, is required in order to enter the Czech Republic. For the citizens of EU the identity card is sufficient. There is no need of an entry visa for most European countries, Australia, Canada, USA and for some other countries. In case of necessity, you can obtain visa at the Czech Embassy in your country. From 31st December 2007, the Czech Republic joins the countries, which have accepted the so-called Schengen Agreement. In the territories of these states, the inhabitants of the contracting countries may cross the frontiers without any entry checks. Nevertheless, the duty to have on a passport or an identity document remains in effect. The official language is Czech. Most local people have basic or possibly intermediate knowledge of English or German language.
