BUILDINGS THAT SAVE
Prague is home to schools, swimming pools, care homes, depots, offices, and cultural buildings. All of them need heat, light, and electricity. And in most cases, they can be run more efficiently. These are specific upgrades that show up in energy bills: insulation, new windows, LED lighting, solar panels, smart heating control, or recovering heat that would otherwise go to waste. The result? Lower consumption. Fewer emissions. And millions of crowns that Prague doesn’t have to spend on energy.
WHAT’S ALREADY WORKING IN PRAGUE?
Depo Zličín – a major upgrade of an administrative building. It now has a new boiler system, insulation, energy-efficient windows, LED lighting, and rooftop solar panels. The result? Electricity consumption has plummeted by 43%! Prague saves over CZK 2.4 million every year here alone, and 276 tons of unnecessary emissions are avoided.
Schools and care homes in Prague 7
Heating empty classrooms makes no sense. That’s why Prague 7 has equipped 11 buildings with smart radiator valves that only heat when lessons are taking place. The savings? Over CZK 4 million in a single year!
Olešská Primary Art School and Novovysočanská Higher Vocational School
Two schools, two roofs, one piece of great news. In 2025, new photovoltaic systems with a combined capacity of over 78 kWp were installed. Pupils now learn in buildings powered by clean energy generated for free by the sun right above their heads.
Šutka Aquacentre
Swimming pools consume loads of energy. Šutka has therefore undergone modernisation through an EPC project, where the savings help repay the investment. In one year alone, around 4 million CZK was saved on energy and 4.75 million CZK on water!
