RECYCLING WITHIN EASY REACH
Every year, Prague residents throw away 256,000 tons of mixed waste. That’s enough to form a line of garbage trucks stretching all the way from Prague to Brno. To reduce the amount ending up in general waste, we are expanding recycling options across the city. It helps the environment and saves us all money.
WHAT ARE WE DOING TO MAKE IT EASIER FOR YOU TO RECYCLE?
47,000 new containers for plant-based organic waste — even an ordinary apple core can be turned into valuable compost.
1,000 containers for used cooking oils and fats — so no more pouring them down the sink, thank you very much!
MAKING RECYCLING IN PRAGUE EVEN SIMPLER
We’re moving containers closer to where you live, into courtyards and residential blocks. They’re already in more than 3,500 apartment buildings. And here’s a helpful tip:
a yellow bin in your building = plastics + metals + drink cartons. So no more searching for the right container after dark.
A question for children
Become recycling champions at home. What goes into the blue, brown, green and yellow bins? (Here’s a clue: not your school report book!)
