Debate: "Multi-speed Europe"

On 7 November 2017, the Institute for Politics and Society and the Representation of the City of Prague in Brussels, in cooperation with the European Liberal Forum, organised a debate on "Multi-speed Europe" at Prague House.

Participants in the debate discussed the advantages and disadvantages of a multi-speed Europe, its threats, as well as whether this concept could be a solution to combat growing nationalism and whether it could restore citizens' trust in the EU. Panelists included Věra Jourová (European Commissioner, ALDE), Pavel Svoboda (MEP, EPP), Ivan Hodač (President, ASPEN Institute), Dita Charanzová (MEP, ALDE), Martin Povejšil (Ambassador, Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU), Roland Freudenstein (Policy Director, Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies) and Hans H. Stein (Director European and Transatlantic Dialogue, Friedrich-Naumann-Foundation for Freedom). The discussion was moderated by Jan Macháček, Chairman of the Board of the Institute for Politics and Society.
