The festive opening of the exhibition BLACK & WHITE
From February 9 to March 7, 2023 the Prague House hosts the exhibition BLACK & WHITE presenting Czech Contemporary Female Artists Daniela Baráčková, Markéta Bartošová, Eva Eisler, Anna Hulačová, Lucie Jindrák Skřivánková, Vladimíra Klumparová, Jimena Mendoza, Alice Nikitinová, Míla Preslová and Katarína Szanyi. The Festive opening took place on February 8, 2023 in presence of the currator Lenka Lindaurová and one of the artists, Míla Preslová.
The currator Lenka Lindaurová described the concept of the exhibition as following: "The black and white exhibition is composed only of the work of female artists, but not from a gender perspective. The aim is to show women and their way of seeing, and at the same time point out the fact that nothing is black and white. That is why the selection of female authors goes across generations, locations and media.
Then transferred to an aesthetic level – the installation shows minimalist beauty, a combination of various artistic outputs in the simple "colorlessness" of black and white. It induces a feeling of harmony, certainty, comprehensibility and audience friendliness, it does not provoke, it calms. From paintings, wall paintings, sculptures, objects, films, photographs to glass, the show offers harmony, silent agreement, and the possibility of harmony.
Black and white paradoxically points to non-conflict, modesty and purposeful work. Nothing is ever black and white: this exhibition, however, works with the theme metaphorically."
