Strings of Autumn international music festival brings unique music

5.11.2019 — This year's 23rd annual Strings of Autumn international music festival will bring several exceptional concerts. Once again, the festival's programme contains a mix of classical music, jazz, world-music, and projects that don't fit into a set genre. The festival in Prague will last until the 13th of November.

Clarinet Factory concert to support palliative care

9.10.2019 — On the 10th of October, Clarinet Factory will perform classical, jazz, world and electronic music in La Fabrika cultural centre in Holešovice, Prague. The concert is held to celebrate World Hospice and Palliative Care Day and the four musicians will perform in support of Cesta domů Home Hospice in Prague.

First stand up paddle board race in Prague

30.6.2019 — From the 5th to the 7th of July, a unique stand up paddleboard race (SUP) will take place in the historical centre of Prague, on the Vltava River near Střelecký Island ('Střelecký ostrov'). The first official SUP race in Prague is part of the tenth anniversary of the biggest European series, The Euro Tour. In addition to racing, the weekend will be full of sport opportunities for all paddle board enthusiasts. Paddle board fans of any level of experience will be able to borrow and try out paddle boards.

Manet’s graphics in the National Gallery Prague

28.6.2020 — 'Manet in Black-and-White' is an exhibition of graphic works by the French painter Édouard Manet held in the National Gallery Prague. The exhibition will be open in the Graphic Cabinet on the 4th floor of the Trade Fair Palace until the 9th of August. The National Gallery Prague has been located in the Trade Fair Palace in Prague's Holešovice district since 1976. Apart from the temporary exhibition of Manet's lesser-known works, you can also visit the permanent exhibition of 20thand 21st century art located there.

Císařský Island and Troja reconnected by pedestrian bridge

30.10.2020 — The districts of Prague 7 and Prague-Troja are connected by a new pedestrian bridge three years after the disastrous collapse of the Troja Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge will serve not only pedestrians, cyclists and people on inline skates, but also the Integrated Rescue System vehicles shall the need arise. The total cost of the construction was 150 million CZK, and the construction took less than one year.

Darwin Crater opens to the public

8.6.2020 — Darwin Crater, the long-awaited habitat for Tasmanian and Australian fauna, including Tasmanian devils, has finally opened in Prague Zoo. The new exhibition is named after the area in Tasmania which was created by a fallen meteorite. The circular shape of Darwin Crater in Prague Zoo, which is the centre of the habitat, depicts the crater in Western Tasmania.

Outdoor photo exhibition captures the beauty and ugliness of Wenceslas Square

31.10.2020 — 'Dvě tváře Prahy', meaning Two Faces of Prague, is a competition in which the participating photographers capture either the positive or the negative aspects of Prague. An outdoor exhibition of 23 winning photographs on large panels can be seen until the 5th of November in the pedestrian zone of Na Příkopě Street. The theme of 'Dvě tváře Prahy 2020' was Wenceslas Square and the surrounding area, and all types of photographers took part: adults, young people, children, keen amateurs and professionals. A total of 720 images were sent to the competition, the most in its eleven-year history.

Final farewell to Karel Gott

10.10.2019 — Up to 300,000 people are expected to come to Žofín Palace in Prague to pay their final respects to Karel Gott this Friday. Masarykovo Embankment, which is close to the venue, will be pedestrianised. The Office of the Government of the Czech Republic will work with the police, the army and Prague City Hall for the smooth organisation of the event.
