PRAGUE CAPITAL PRESENTATION ON TOURISM FAIRS DURING 2010

 

 

A) Presentation with the Prague stands– Charles Bridge and Old Town Square

 

January

14th -17th of January - FERIENMESSE, Wien, Austria

    The biggest Austrian public fair attended by 105,000 public visitors and 2,700 professionals in 2008. It was attended by 823 exhibitors from 71 countries. Austria is one of the neighbour countries where it is possible to attract people for visiting Prague.

16th - 24th of January - CMT Stuttgart, Germany

It is the biggest fair in the Southwest Germany area with huge attraction zone. Visitors come to the fair within the 100km radius. Attendance is always around 200,000, Prague capital exhibited here in 2007. It is significant neighbour country area.

 

 28th - 31st of January - FESPO Zurich, Switzerland

The fair for public and professionals, attended by 70,000 visitors every year, in 2007 it was 73,578 visitors. Around 96% of visitors travel abroad once a year and 77% of visitors are coming here to get information. Zurich has really good flight connection with Prague and Prague is still not appreciated fully in Switzerland.

 

 

 

 

 

 

February

 

4th - 8th of February – VACANCES, Brussels, Belgium

Traditionally well attended and successful fair in Brussels, where Prague capital is attended regularly every year, because it is also attended by EU Administration. It had almost 106,000 visitors and 1,690 exhibitors in 2009.

  

March

 

25th - 28th of March - TUR Goteborg, Sweden

The biggest Tourism fair in Scandinavia, 952 exhibitors from 102 countries participated and 54,000 visitors together with 510 journalists attended in 2009. It was in Copenhagen in 2008 when the Prague capital presented itself on Scandinavian fair last time. This fair in Goteborg seems suitable for addressing that part of public travelling commonly by air.

  MAP Paris, France

The biggest French Tourism fair connected with cultural offer. Almost 100,000 public visitors and 11,067 professionals attended in 2008. There were exhibited over 300 destinations here, 18% of them were tourism information offices from all around the world. It is a unique opportunity to present Prague as a city of culture and monuments on demanding French market.

April-May

Taxidi, Cyprus       

Public fair with high attendance level. Considering that Cyprus is classical summer destination, we can assume spending holiday there in winter months – beneficial for Prague and it is aimed on middle class customer base – there is higher living level on Cyprus that it is in Greece and cultural tourism is popular here.

 

June

11th - 15th of June - ITE Hong Kong

One of the biggest fairs in China. The Prague capital exhibited here successfully in 2007 and over 57,000 visitors, 358 invited purchasers and 655 exhibitors from 50 countries attended in 2008. Hong Kong is still significant Chinese source market.

 

 KOTFA Soul, South Korea

Tourism from South Korea is rising thanks to direct Soul – Prague flight connection. It is necessary to support this trend. Almost 86,000 visitors and 2,734 exhibitors attended KOTFA fair in 2007. Media covering is also important in this area.

 

October

 INWETEX- CIS TRAVEL MARKET- Petrograd, Russia

This fair is determined for specialized public, tour operators, congress organizers and incentives, travel agencies. One day only is opened for public. 10,000 visitors attended in 2007, 6,000 of them were professionals. 425 exhibitors participated in this fair.

  

November

WTM  London, Great Britain

27,000 tourism professionals, 3,000 journalists and 5,600 exhibitors attended this fair in 2007. London is the most important professional fair, where are coming also British travel agencies looking for specific products, like travelling by train, etc. It is significant for presenting media offers and global publicity.

 SITV Colmar, France

The fair for the northern Switzerland and northern France area with regular attendance level of 30,000 people. 500 exhibitors presented here in 2008. The Prague capital participated in this fair in 2007 and noticed big interest in travelling to Prague. There is a direct flight connection from nearby Basel with Swiss company.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

B) Fair activities in cooperation with Czechtourism

 

January

FITUR Madrid, Spain

150,000 visitors, 12,000 exhibitors, this fair aims on people from South America area also.

 

SLOVAKIATOUR Bratislava, Slovakia

Prague Information service might be represented here, it is about continuation of long time tradition and offering updated programs and events.

 

February

BIT Milan, Italy

The biggest Italian fair for public and professionals. 150,000 visited in 2007, 108,000 were specialized public and 5,002 exhibitors. The Prague capital attends regularly this fair.

 

Reisen Essen, Germany

Reisen Essen fair was very interesting and successful. 800 exhibitors presented and 92,800 visitors attended this fair. Exhibition area of Czech Republic was 150 m2.

 

March

MITT Moscow, Russia

It is about enhancing the interest in Prague, traditional destination for Russians, however due to proceeding global crisis, it is entirely apropos to present here together with Czechtourism.

 

 

 

HW Dublin, Ireland

There is very good direct flight connection to Ireland and Prague is very popular destination here. It is needed to promote because of the competition with other capital cities.

 

ITB Berlin, Germany

177,000 visitors, 10,293 exhibitors. Big kiosk of Prague capital cannot be realized here due to technical reasons.

 

May

IMEX Frankfurt, Germany

Meetings fair, Incentive Exhibitions and Congress (MICE), where Prague can apply incentives for organizing MICE events.

 

November

TC Leipzig

Fair in Germany, where Prague did not exhibit yet, it has relevance to support tourism from neighbour countries.

 

December

EIBTM Barcelona, Spain

Meetings fair, Incentive Exhibitions and Congress (MICE), where Prague can apply incentives for organizing MICE events. Abundantly represented by so called Purchasers.
