Císařský Island and Troja reconnected by pedestrian bridge

The districts of Prague 7 and Prague-Troja are connected by a new pedestrian bridge three years after the disastrous collapse of the Troja Pedestrian Bridge. The bridge will serve not only pedestrians, cyclists and people on inline skates, but also the Integrated Rescue System vehicles shall the need arise. The total cost of the construction was 150 million CZK, and the construction took less than one year.

The new Troja Pedestrian Bridge is 4 meters wide, 256 meters long and should last for at least 100 years. Because it is located in the Imperial Island’s (‘Císařský ostrov’) floodplain, the railings can be collapsed in case of flooding so that it would not obstruct the stream. A warm yellow light, which does not disturb birds and insects, is built into the railings.
