Enjoy a picnic on Střelecký Island

On the weekend of the 13th and the 14th of July, Střelecký Island in Prague will turn into an ideal picnic spot with lots of food, music and entertainment.

The third annual Prague Picnic - a two-day festival of street cuisine in the heart of Prague - is coming soon. The past two years of the festival were very successful, so you can expect a really special event this weekend.

 

Picnic rental

You can bring your blanket or rent it on the spot to spend a nice day in the green areas. Apart from blankets, there will also be picnic baskets will also be available for rent.

 

International cuisine

During the food festival in nature, the international street food stalls will have many delicacies on offer. For example, you can taste baguettes, steaks, sandwiches, salads, as well as Mediterranean, Asian and fresh Mexican cuisine.

For example, NA POKĒ will be offering delicious poké bowls. Poké is a Hawaiian dish based on sushi rice, served with vegetables, seaweed, edamame, mango and avocado. There will also be fresh marinated salmon and tofu-flavoured homemade sauces on offer.

Milujupadthai will be serving luxurious prawn Pad Thai, with chicken and vegetarian options. In short, there will be Pad Thai for everyone!

Along with the wave of current trends, there will be plenty of organic and vegan food at the festival. There will be a wide selection of food to try out and everyone will be satisfied.

Certainly, you have to keep some space for dessert! And to add to the list of treats, you can look forward to Prosecco and Aperol Spritz, as well as plenty of cocktails, wines, fruit and herbal lemonades.

 

Rich programme

For those who are not only interested in food, the organisers have prepared various other activities as well. You can look forward to workshops, happenings and a rich music programme across all genres. Enjoy your meal with pleasant indie, folk and chill-out music. Of course, dancing will also be part of the fun!

Another part of the programme will be a traditional chicken wing eating competition. Will you dare? Can you eat 50 pieces in under a minute? Come and enjoy the true summer picnic atmosphere at Střelecký Island.

 

The history of picnic

Picnic has its roots in the first half of the 18th century in France. Pique-nique have lunch on the grass. At that time, the idea was a lunch where everyone brought their own food. Today’s meaning of the word dates back to the 19th century, when it became connected to entertainment and a part of nature excursions.
