Traditional gas lamps on Charles Bridge for Advent

Charles Bridge is the only bridge in the world illuminated by gas lights. They were installed in 2010. Until the 23^rd of December, a lamplighter in a traditional suit and with a long stick leaves from Křižovnický Square daily to light the lamps on Charles Bridge. He goes down one side of the bridge and comes back on the other side.The gas lamps on Charles Bridge are lit at the same time that the main public lighting switches on, between 4:05 and 4:15 pm, depending on how short the day is.
