Prague Spring presents: Rudolf Firkušný Piano Festival 2019
Five excellent pianists will take part in the seventh annual Rudolf Firkušný Piano Festival, which will take place between the 17th and the 23rd of November. This year, festival goers can once again look forward to an extraordinary music experience.
Every year, the festival that pays tribute to one of the most famous Czech pianists, Rudolf Firkušný, enhances the autumn music season with concerts by world-renowned pianists. It is linked with the Prague Spring festival, and it breaks up the time until the main festivals in May.
International stars
The Canadian Marc-André Hamelin and the talented Italian pianist Beatrice Rana, playing in the Czech Republic for the first time, are among the world-renowned musicians. You can also look forward to the phenomenal Yevgeny Kissin’s recital.
Jazz lovers will appreciate the brilliant Aaron Diehl, who will perform with his trio. The only Czech musician at the festival will be the pianist Jan Bartoš.
Breath-taking Beatrice Rana
Beatrice Rana, the young Italian pianist, who belongs among the five pianists of the new “golden era”, according to Gramophone magazine, will open the festival.
World media writes about her in superlatives, such as “the most perfect of young artists,” (The Washington Post), who “reigns inherited musicality,” (The Los Angeles Times).
“Beatrice Rana is a revelation to me because the level of her musical maturity and technical certainty is stunning in such a young person,” Sir Antonio Pappano, the conductor, music director and head of the London Orchestra, says admiringly of the opera.
Sensitive and sophisticated Jan Bartoš
Every year, the festival organisers also invite a representative of the Czech music scene, in addition to foreign guests.
This year, music lovers will surely appreciate an extraordinarily interesting concert by Jan Bartoš, who considers music to be his life journey. His motto is: “Be a servant of music”. He follows in the steps of musicians who profoundly influence him, including the piano poet Ivan Moravec, and Alfred Brendel, one of the greatest pianists of all time.
Do not miss this exceptional music experience that will keep audiences applauding all night long!
