Summer at Prague Exhibition Grounds
Prague Exhibition Grounds welcomes visitors to the summer season. Besides attractions for children, sports opportunities and picnic spots, a summer garden restaurant and a new bistro are also open. Now, visitors can enter the lower part of the Grounds directly from Stromovka. In addition to continuing works on bigger investment projects, smaller-scale improvements are gradually being completed.
“We continue to transform Prague Exhibition Grounds into a modern socio-cultural area with a wide range of leisure and sports activities. For the summer, we have prepared several novelties for the inhabitants of Prague from a rope trail in the middle of the trees and a fitness and workout park to the new bistro near Stromovka. For the entire month of July, the inhabitants of Prague can also cool down in the pool,” TomášHübl, the Chairman of the Board, said.
The children's rope walk, fitness area, and, from mid-July, the picnic space with public barbecues can be found in the lower part of the Exhibition Grounds. In this renovated area of the Grounds, repaired roads and a new entrance from Stromovka were also opened. Athletes can try climbing on a modern rock-climbing wall right next to the swimming pool. Parents with children will appreciate the children's bike park. The list of summer sports activities at Prague Exhibition Grounds is complemented with a swimming pool, which will stay open over for the summer for the first time this year. Visitors can enjoy the pool throughout all of July and part of August, before the pool closes for maintenance.
After the day’s adventures, it is now refreshment time. You can choose between the summer garden restaurant Pražan, which not only offers refreshments in the pleasant shade of the trees, but also a rich cultural programme including outdoor cinema; and the modern Italian-style bistro, Artyčok, situated next to Marold’s Panorama of the Battle of Lipany, opened after a complete renovation.
With the progress of intensive renovating works in the Exhibition Grounds, other amenities will open: in mid-July, a new café and patisserie will open near the playground. A new food hall will be ready for autumn. Visitors will be able to enter it directly from Stromovka and buy meat, cheese and barbecue equipment to use in the public barbecue area. During the summer, the rubble from old demolished buildings will be cleared and removed and the roads and footpaths will be repaired, including ‘Bruselská cesta’ (Brussels Road). From September onwards, the restaurant Pražan will start brewing their own lager.
