The project Ledová Praha invites children to engage with heritage centres in Prague
On Friday, the 1st of February 2019, schoolchildren in the Czech Republic will enjoy a school break. As in previous years, children will participate in project Ledová Praha by visiting monuments, museums and other centres of heritage in Prague. Over the long weekend from the 1st to the 3rd of February, families and groups of children will collect their Ledová karta, a free card that grants free or reduced admission to many museums and galleries in Prague, (such as the National Museum, the Jewish Museum in Prague and the Czech Police Museum) and other places of interest (for example, Prague Castle, Strahov Library and Loreta Praha). This year, about thirty historical and cultural centres of heritage are taking part.
Come and play
PragoFFest, a festival of games and fantasy, will also be taking part in Ledová Praha. Dozens of tables for table and card games, computers and video game consoles, music games and model soldiers, will all be waiting for young adventurers. The game production company Mindok will also have a play area with a selection of their games.
Find a “cache”
Another part of Ledová Praha will be geocaching, an activity that is becoming more and more popular. The organizers of the event will be publishing the coordinates where “caches” are hidden all throughout the long weekend. The game will bring children into Prague’s hidden alleys, as well as into various cultural centres, where they will seek the little treasure boxes.
Children’s concert
Children can also take part in the concert Děti dětem, which will take place on Saturday, the 2nd of February 2019 in Prague Congress Centre. The young finalists of the competition Pionýrský Sedmikvítek, who come from all over the republic, will participate in the concert along with interesting professional guests. The admission ticket for the concert is CZK 50.
