Young jazz musicians will perform in Malostranská beseda
On the 12th of September, Magnum Jazz Bigband will perform at the famous club Malostranská beseda on Malostranské Square. Magnum Jazz Bigband has a broad repertoire, playing everything from swing to modern jazz.
Malostranská beseda is inherently connected with leading Czech musicians and bands. The club situated in a historic building, whose history dates back to the times of the king Ottokar II of Bohemia (Přemysl Otakar II.), is filled with good music daily, ranging from folk to jazz, and chanson to country.
Former school band
Magnum Jazz Bigband was founded 20 years ago by the elementary music school ZUŠ Klapkova in Prague to bring together pupils with an interest in music. Thanks to its great success, what was originally a more intimate school band has grown to a full-fledged big band.
During the 20 years of its existence, the musicians have changed, as well as the repertoire – now they play more modern styles such as jazz, funk and electro swing. As they say, they can play everything “from Bach to Vlach” (Karel Vlach was a Czech swing orchestra conductor). An important part of the Magnum Jazz Bigband’s repertoire is also film music, the audience's favourite. Thus, the band will please a wide range of listeners.
The best concert is live
Live concerts are the best way to listen to big bands. Magnum Jazz Bigband, a musical machine consisting of thirteen wind instruments, rhythmic sections, singers and the conductor, will not leave anyone feeling calm. On the 12th of September, all of Malostranská beseda will be dancing.
