The eighth annual festival of Iranian films in Prague with English subtitles
16.1.2019 — From the 15th to the 20th of January, Prague cinemas present a festival, which introduces some of the best current Iranian films. The festival, simply called 'Írán:ci' (Iranians), features films projected with English subtitles. It opens on the 15th of January at 8pm in the Lucerna cinema, with a dark comedy 'Pig', one of the most successful Iranian movies of the year. The director Mani Haghighi, whose movies 'About Elly' and 'Dragon Arrives!' were successful in previous years of the festival, will introduce the film.

Autumn colours in Prague Botanical Garden
23.10.2020 — Prague Botanical Garden was of the few places not affected by the government's Covid-19 restrictions, but unfortunately it had to close today. Hopefully, it will reopen soon so that visitors will be able to enjoy the beautiful autumn colours! The garden is truly magical in the autumn. Those who think that all flowers have already bloomed are mistaken. For example, the Ornamental Garden is still full of colour these days.
Celebrate Prague Zoo’s anniversary
26.9.2020 — The 28th of September is the Day of Czech Statehood. In Prague Zoo, this day is traditionally dedicated to the zoo's anniversary. The reopening of the Hippopotamus Pavilion and the introduction of the male hippoTchéco will be the highlights of this year's celebration. However, in order to maintain social distancing and prevent large numbers of visitors indoors, this part of the event will be broadcasted on ČT24 in the morning and visitors will be able to visit the Hippo Pavilion over the course of the afternoon.
‘The Mad Hercules’ and ‘Greta’ on Štvanice Island
6.7.2020 — The VILA Štvanice Theatre has opened its outdoor summer venue, with the biggest stage located under the arch of the Hlávkův Bridge overlooking the park. The summer stage programme will include open-air theatre plays, concerts and movie screenings. The bridge's arch offers a shelter, so even bad weather cannot spoil the show!

If you are passionate about dancing, you will surely enjoy DanceTime Gala Ball 2019, which will take place on the 12th of January 2019 in Grand Hotel Bohemia in Prague. The ball is the conclusion of the second year of the DanceTime Gala Cup, a special dance competition where one professional and one amateur work together as dancing partners. 4.10.2020 — Visitors to the Ekocetrum Prales (meaning 'rainforest') in the Kbely district of Prague can admire an outdoor exhibition of selected photographs from this year's Czech Nature Photo competition until the end of October. 'Lesy hl. m. Prahy' (Prague City Forests) became one of the partners of the competition this year and the pictures have already been exhibited in the Wild Garden Hostivař.
First Matter of Art
29.8.2020 — Matter of Art ('Bienále Ve věci umění') with the subtitle Come Closer ('Pojď blíž') is a new event with the ambition of becoming a biennale - an event that takes place every second year. The full programme takes place in the Prague Municipal Library in Mariánské Square until the 15th of November, offering guided tours, workshops, and discussions. Proximity and empathy are the two central motifs of the Matter of Art 2020. One of the main locations is the Municipal Library's exquisite exhibition halls in Prague's Old Town.
Italian-style New Year's Eve with Collegium 1704
28.12.2019 — The Collegium 1704 Orchestra, which is dedicated to the interpretation of Baroque music, will perform music by the Italian Baroque masters with the vocal ensemble Collegium Vocale 1704 at their New Year's Eve concert in Rudolfinum in Prague.
Third generation of common European vipers in Prague Zoo
31.8.2020 — Vipera berus, the common European adder or common European viper, is the only venomous snake that can be found in the Czech Republic. The third generation was bred in Prague Zoo in August and visitors can admire the baby snakes in the part of the zoo called 'Zakázanka'.

Traffic restrictions on Vinohradská Avenue
8.3.2019 — On Saturday, the 9th of March 2019, the reconstruction of the tram line on Vinohradská Avenue will begin on the stretch from Škrétova Street to Sudoměřská Street. The expected completion date is the 12th of July 2019. Trams will not operate in the I. P. Pavlova - Muzeum - Flora section, and buses will provide alternative routes. Road traffic will only be maintained in the direction from the city centre from Legerova Street to Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. In the next part of Vinohradská Avenue, as well as in the direction to the city centre, the following diversions and alternative routes are proposed:
Pilotů Cinema hosts new Indian film festival
25.2.2020 — A brand-new film festival is coming to Prague. The first annual independent Indian film festival, 'INDIE-INDIA', will take place in the Pilotů Cinema on the 28th and 29th of February.
Top speedway racers will compete at Markéta Speedway Stadium
15.6.2019 — On Saturday, the 15th of June 2019, the next round of the prestigious FIM Speedway Grand Prix, the World Championship of Individuals, will take place at Markéta Speedway Stadium. The 23rd annual Speedway World Championship in the Czech Republic will be the third round in the Speedway Grand Prix. The first race took place in May in Warsaw, and the next round will be in Krško, Slovenia.
The 20th Summer Festivities of Early Music – a highlight of the music season in Prague
15.7.2019 — The 20th Anniversary of the Summer Festivities of Early Music has started! The first of seven exclusive evenings of music took place on the 11th of July and the international music festival will run until the 6th of August. The well-known festival has been connecting old music with architecture for 20 years, as the concerts take place at specially selected historical venues in the Czech capital city, such as the Convent of Saint Agnes, Břevnov Monastery, Troja Château, and Rudolfinum.
Open Day in Točná Airport
8.11.2019 — Old airplanes will be on display for the Open Day in Točná Airport, which the airport organises on the second Saturday of each month. This time, you can admire some new additions on Saturday, the 9th of November. You can also look forward to the take-off and landing of airplanes, weather permitting.
Charles Bridge Renovation Began
14.9.2007 — At last the Charles Bridge renovation finally started, it has been planned since 1991. Its completion date is 11th June 2010 and the repairs should prevent water leakage and improve the infrastructure of the bridge and its access roads. Repair works cost more than 222 million crowns and doesn't concern the stone bridge's antique patina as this will be repaired in 10 years time.

Nativity scenes from Třešť in Jindřišská Tower
9.1.2019 — The third floor of the Jindřišská Tower is now dedicated to an exhibition of original nativity scenes hand-carved by craftsmen from Třešť, which has become known as the town of nativity scenes. From the outside, the tram serves as a moving decoration for the streets of Prague, where it will ride through all year round; inside, it promotes various cultural events taking place in Prague. From time to time, events will also take place on the tram, which will be used as a mobile stage for concerts and theatre performances, or simply as a reading place. "Cultural life is finally slowly awakening after coronavirus. I am pleased that we can arrange cultural activities in this innovative way for the people of Prague too", Hana Třeštíková, Prague City Councillor for Culture and Tourism, said.
