30.11.2011 — There are many ways how to travel in Prague: the beauty of the city can be explored by tram, metro, bus, boat, funicular, taxi, car or bike. The most comfortable way to travel in the historical centre is the public transport, which can take you almost anywhere. It is cheap and quick. Travelling by car is recommended only exceptionally.

30.9.2019 — The Czech capital wants to thank blood donors by inviting them to the first of three Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK) concerts at the end of September. City representatives and representatives of the Czech Red Cross Regional Organisation (CRC) will also receive the Jánský Gold Medal, which is traditionally given to donors who give blood 40 times. Subsequent concerts are scheduled for February and May next year.

5.10.2019 — Barbara Coudenhove-Kalergi's autobiography 'Home is Everywhere' will be presented in Prague by the author, who will read from the book in the Václav Havel Library on the 7th of October.

27.2.2020 — At a press conference held following the meeting of the State Security Council, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tomáš Petříček said that the infection of Czech citizens and fellow citizens abroad has not yet been confirmed. He asks Czech citizens to register in the Drozd system, at: https://drozd.mzv.cz , before travelling abroad, so they can be contacted if necessary.

25.4.2019 — From the 26th to the 28th April 2019, nineteen galleries will take part in the third annual Gallery Weekend Prague.

11.4.2019 — The Zlíchov Depot is reopening after the winter break.

14.11.2022 — Pražané, kteří se dostali do exekucí kvůli nesplaceným poplatkům, pokutám či nájmům vůči Magistrátu hl. m. Prahy, jeho městským organizacím či městským částem, mají v těchto dnech poslední možnost využít akce Milostivé léto II a zaplatit mnohem menší dluh. Ze strany dlužníků je o akci i tentokrát velký zájem, končí však už 30. listopadu 2022. Hlavní město při této příležitosti spustilo informační kampaň, k dispozici je stále také bezplatná linka 800 100 000.

11.2.2019 — For almost 11 million CZK, Prague Castle Administration bought two paintings by the well-known Czech painter Kamil Lhoták (1912-1990). The paintings will be exhibited at the Picture Gallery at the 2nd Courtyard of Prague Castle until February 28th.

25.5.2004 — Jeho sportovní i společenský význam je bezpochyby obrovský, protože pražský maratón patří k největším běhům na celém světě, například je to partnerský sportovní podnik maratónu v New Yorku. Letošní účast, tři týdny po našem vstupu do EU, byla největší v historii, běželo více než 4200 sportovců.

18.8.2009 — Rada hlavního města Prahy schválila přidělení finančních prostředků v celkové výši 2 340 000 korun na podporu sportovních akcí v roce 2009. Hlavní město Praha na tyto akce přispívá a podporuje je v rámci partnerství při jejich pořádání.

30.8.2019 — The Environmental Protection Department of Prague City Hall was in charge of repairing a neglected part of Květnice Garden, costing 2.8 million CZK. The garden is part of Petřín Park (Petřínské sady) and is located above Nebozízek in the proximity of the Rose Orchard (Růžový sad).

6.8.2020 — The 25th International Organ Festival will take place from the 6th of August to the 24th of September in the Basilica of St. James the Greater in Prague's Old Town. Festival goers will have the opportunity to enjoy solo organ recitals by leading Czech and international organists.

4.10.2019 — The 6th annual Be2Can film festival will take place in Prague from the 2nd to the 8th of October. The festival will feature award winning films from the three most prestigious film festivals: the Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival, along with many other excellent movies.

28.12.2019 — The Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague is hosting an exhibition of works by the iconic Finnish designer Tapio Wirkkala until the 23rd of January. The exhibition is held in the museum's historical building in the city centre. The exhibition's curators are Uta Laurén and Jan Mergl.

29.6.2019 — This year, Prague Botanical Garden in Troja is celebrating its 50th anniversary. As part of the year-long celebrations, a new collection of wine, Cuvée Natalis, and a book about the vineyard, 'Vinice sv. Kláry 365', are now available to visitors.

18.8.2020 — The vulnerable Texas tortoise is a species of tortoise in the Testudinidae family, and one of six species of tortoises in the Gopherus genus, commonly referred to as gopher tortoises. They are native to North America, in southern US and northern Mexico. Prague Zoo, which is the only zoo in Europe that successfully breeds this species, celebrated the birth of a new hatchling in the second half of July. Texas tortoises inhabit deep burrows, which they dig with their strong claws and flattened front legs. However, they prefer to use pre-dug mammal burrows. Prague Zoo has kept a group of these interesting tortoises in the Sonora exhibit in the Pavilion of Beasts and Reptiles since 2007. The first hatchlings were born in 2010.

6.10.2020 — The international literary festival in Prague has been introducing the world's most renowned writers and the best world literature for the past 30 years. The Prague Writer's Festival will take place between the 7th and the 11th of October in the Convent of St. Agnes and Rock Café this year.

31.8.2020 — Prague Zoo has been working to protect endangered Egyptian vultures in Bulgaria for a long time. Experts placed two young birds into two wild vultures' nests in the Eastern Rhodopes a few days ago as part of this programme.

16.2.2020 — Come to appreciate and support the best pole dance contestants who have made their way through the individual rounds of Battle League 2019 to the elite final of the competition. Pole Battle Championship will take place on the 22nd of February in the sports hall TJ Sokol Královské Vinohrady.

19.2.2020 — The National Pedagogical Museum hosts an interesting exhibition that tells the life story of Jan Amos Comenius (Komenský in Czech) in a unique way. The 'KOMenský v KOMiksu' ('Comenius in the Comics') exposition will be open in the museum building on Valdštejnská Street until the 31st of December 2020.

5.3.2019 — From Monday the 4th to Friday the 15th of March 2019, the funicular from Újezd to Petřín will be out of operation due to regular spring maintenance.

8.6.2012 — Three quarters of European citizens live and work in big cities. For that reason, these cities joined together in 1986 and founded the non-profit organization EUROCITIES to share knowledge and apply this knowledge in practice.

11.9.2012 — Rada hlavního města na dnešním zasedání schválila záměr realizace a zahájení zadávacího řízení na veřejnou zakázku zajištění podpory a údržby (maintenance) informačního systému PROXIO, tj. služby údržby a servisu programového vybavení tohoto systému po dobu 2 let u všech subjektů hl. m. Prahy, kde je systém implementován a provozován.

18.6.2020 — Latin American food lovers cannot miss the Los Trhos food festival by Merkádo, which will take place on the 20th of June in Prague Market in Holešovice. In addition to great food, the festival will offer Latin American music and an accompanying programme for children.
