Physical entities, persons are obliged, pursuant to law, to dispose municipal waste at dedicated points and separately collect, sort, and hand over the waste for its reuse and final disposal according to the system as established by the given municipality (pursuant to Section 17 (4) of the Act No 185/2001 Code.)
Collecting containers for mixed waste
Never put hazardous waste into mixed waste, also reusable components of waste (as paper, glass, and plastics, for instance) should never be put in it.
never put aside the collecting containers any further waste (for instance, the waste, which could not be accommodated into the container);
it is the obligation of the premises landlord to provide for collecting containers of capacity large enough (pursuant to Section 6 a) of the Ordinance of the Capital City of Prague No. 24/2001 Code);
the premises landlord shall be responsible for cleanliness in the vicinity of the permanent locations of these containers (pursuant to Section 6 e) of the Ordinance of the Capital City of Prague No. 24/2001 Code);
the collection of mixed waste shall be carried out by the competent collecting company (the map of area distribution);
In case of damage, loss, claims for the collection service, complaints for the collecting vehicle crew, providing of a new collecting container for a new building, required changes to the collection frequency, or the size of containers one can refer to the contacts given here below.
never put packages contaminated with hazardous materials into the coloured containers;
in case that a container for sorted waste has become contaminated with a type of waste, which is not the right one, the whole volume of waste in the container may not be reused then. Such a container is set aside from the regular collection of reusable waste components and its content is then collected with mixed waste;
in case of any remarks or complaints concerning the sorted collection one can contact the appropriate collecting company, competent Authority of the City District, or the Department of Municipal Waste and City Cleanliness of the Division of the City Infrastructure of the Prague City Hall (tel. 236 00 42 29).

citizens may return batteries, accumulators, and cells into special red containers located at Authorities of City Districts and in buildings of the Prague City Hall; children may use the red containers placed in every elementary school and in every secondary school of all types (this is return of selected products, which is provided by the City of Prague on the basis of agreements with obliged persons);
some of elementary schools are also engaged in competitions in the waste paper collecting.
